The Pekan District Council was formed on 1st. July 1988 is equivalent to 17 Dzulkaedah 1408 Hijrah. Mr Hashim bin Abdul Wahab, AMP., PJK., As the first President, was assisted by 13 councilors and 74 staff members. Officially launched by KDYTM Tengku Mahkota Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al Musta'in Billah, on 3rd November 1990. The area of the MDP area is the area of MDP administration has been expanded through news no. PW 3542 with a total area of 2,351.8km square.
