The history of the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) began in 1933 when Town Board was established, then upgraded to Town Council in 1950, In April 1977, the Johor Municipal Council was upgraded to the Johor Bahru Municipal Council and subsequently gained the status of a band on 1 January 1994.

The sequence of these developments, officially established the Islamic Religious Affairs Department in January 1948. The old Royal Selangor Building was elected as its administrative office.

After the establishment of KADA, the Kelantan State Government followed the action by passing the Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority Enactment, 1972 (Enactment no.2 of 1972 Kelantan) to enable the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries to implement the Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority Act, 1972 from 1 August 1972.

Established in 1929, FRIM, formerly known as the Forest Research Institute, becomes a full statutory body, administered by the Forest Research and Development Authority of Malaysia (MFRDB) under the Ministry of Primary Industries in 1985. Since 2003, MFRDB and FRIM have been transferred under the authority of the Ministry of Resources Natural and Environmental (NRE). Beginning October 1, 2016, the FRIM Act was enacted and the MFRDB was replaced by members of the Institute with four additional representatives from the corporate sector to assist in commercialization efforts. On July 2, 2018, the NRE was restructured to become the Ministry of Water, Land and Natural Resources (KATS) while on March 9, 2020, KATS was reorganized as the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA)
