Simpang Renggam District Council comprises 5 Local Councils namely Renggam, Simpang Renggam, Machap, Layang-Layang and Sungai Sayong. The restructuring of the Federal Government in 1979 by the legislative powers under the Local Government Act 1976 was at the heart of the existence of a Local Government that served as a catalyst for infrastructure in the community, which was gazetted under News Plan PW1287 (JPU.17. 1979) with a population of 49,780 people of various ethnicities.
