In March 1981, repairs and renovations of Istana Jahar as Temporary Museum were done at a cost of RM164,650. On July 1, 1981, the temporary museum was opened to the public from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. Simultaneously, the temporary office of the Museum Corporation has also moved to Istana Jahar.

6. In 1991, once again the Kelantan State Museum Corporation Office had moved to the old building of the Kota Bharu Municipal Council (MPKB), where the Istana Jahar building was used as the Kelantan Royal Customs Museum and the old MPKB building was the State Museum
