Ketereh District Council (MDK) was officially established on 1 January 1979 equivalent to 2 Safar 1399H under the name of Kota Bharu District Council (MDKB) as a result of the combination of three Local Assemblies under the reorganization of Local Authorities in Kelantan under Act 171, Local Government Act. The Local Assemblies involved are Kalong Local Council, Kadok Local Council and Local Council of Remembrance.
